FRAGILE SKYLIGHT SAFETY COVER

Safety for Skylights

Working on roofs is a high-risk activity because it involves working at height. Injuries caused due to people/technicians falling from roof is very unfortunate but a major cause of accidents today, though it is the responsibility of the building owners to take care of their workers, ensure they follow all safety protocols but the situation is still very grim. To address this safety concern of building owners REV has introduced skylight cover. This cover has been specifically designed to cover the unprotected roof lights/Skylights without blocking the light they let into the building.

Riseecovent has been specifically designed to provide a robust effective solution for covering unprotected roof lights. It is without blocking out the light they are supposed to let into a building. Falls or come down directly from height are still a major cause of accidents. It also falls through skylights are unfortunately all very common. All tall building owners have a primary duty of care to ensure workers who need to access or use a roof are safe and if the roof lights are not cleaned on a regular basis they can become indistinguishable from the roof surface. In this inevitably increases the risk of accidents. Likewise, if roof lights are old they may become brittle and will break very easily if someone stands on them. Rise Covent is a practical solution which ensures roof lights can easily be covered by a strong mesh panel mounted onto a metal frame.

Design

The design of the REV Skylights safetycover is so robust that it provides complete protection against falls through fragile roof lights. REV Skylights are covered by a strong mesh panel mounted onto a metal frame. REV Skylight’s safety cover is designed specifically for metal profile roofs where inline roof level skylights are common. The mesh panel top sits onto a metal frame and tube. Basically the standard mesh panels are 2meter in length and 1m width. For larger roof lights we offer extension panels also, 2m or 1m long x 1m wide. The REV Skylights Safety cover is designed to be assembled in-situ so is delivered in component form, thus making it easier to get up to roof level

Testing and Certification

Riseecovent has been tested to the Class B criteria and loadings required in the ACR Red Book Test for Non-Fragility of Roof Assemblies. The test involves a 45Kg (100lbs) weight free falling from a distance of 1.2m (4’) to reach a maximum velocity. Class B rated products ensure the drop mass is retained but there is permitted some damage to the roof light. An additional 1200 joule test has been carried out to BS EN 1873. This requires a 50Kg (110lbs) mass to be dropped from 2.4m (7.9’) and be retained by the KEE COVER whilst ensuring there are no gaps larger than 300mm within the mesh. KEE COVER meets both of these test criteria

Features and Benefits

• Highly portable component based system which is easily transported the roof top
• All components and mesh panels are hot dip galvanised for enhanced durability
• Mesh panels do not block out light, keeping the building illuminated
• Extension panels allow for extended width and lengths be covered, ensuring the roof surface is safe.
• Easily fitted keeping installation costs down.
• It also Metal frame and also panels will not go brittle thus delivering longevity for the installation
• Variable height facility allows for use over different shaped roof lights.
• If greater visibility is required then Tube can be colour coated.
