Industrial Ventilation & General Principles

In a factory working area, ventilation i.e. ventilation fans are basically used to control exposure to airborne contaminants. It is majorly or commonly used to remove contaminants such as fumes, dusts, and vapours, in order to provide a healthy and safe working surrounding atmosphere or environment. Ventilation Manufacturing Services can be accomplished by natural means such as opening a window and mechanical means i.e. fans or blowers
Industrial systems or any factory are designed to move out or a remove (exhaust) and bring in (intake) a specific amount of air at a specific speed i.e. velocity, which results in the removal of undesirable contaminants. Whereas all ventilation in every factory systems follow the same basic principles, each and every system is designed specifically to match to the type of work and the rate of contaminant release at that workplace.
Industry facilities are often used in places that produce toxic or unhealthy airborne particles, dangerous and hazardous chemical fumes, dust, and other harmful vapours. To decrease the effect of these floating dangers, proper industrial ventilation needs to be installed. Take simply, industrial ventilation gets rid of the toxic and unhealthy air and replaces it with fresh air from outside.
Ventilation or a ventilation fans used for decrease the air pollution in factory environment is a necessary part of any industrial facility that will produce harmful air pollutants in a confined space where employees work. It not only cleans the air employees will breathe a fresh and healthy air as compare to previous, it also allows for better temperature control and reduces the risk of fire in the facility.
By the two main methods of industrial ventilation used to keep employees safe – dilution and local exhaust.
 Local Exhaust
When dirt levels are high, local exhaust is used. It works by removing the contaminated air close to the source, and then sending that air through a series of filters on its way out of the facility. This system wants some upfront costs to set up the ducting, but it can handle large amounts of contaminates in multiple forms.
Dilution
Ideal for situations that involve low levels of air pollution and toxicity, dilution mixes contaminated air with clean air from outside of the facility. Typically, big fans are mounted on the walls and ceilings to push in the fresh air. This method doesn’t need a lot of maintenance, which makes it a great option for mobile and dispersed sources of contamination.

General Principles of Industrial Ventilation are given below

Lets see Environmental engineers view:

·       The design and application of equipment for providing the necessary conditions for maintaining the efficiency, health and safety of the workers.
Industrial hygienists view:
·       The control of emissions and the control of exposures.
Mechanical engineers view:
·       The control of the environment with air flow. It can be completed by replacement of contaminated or bad air with clean air.

Industrial Ventilation Objectives are

·       To introduce the basic terms.
·       To discuss heat control.
·       To design ventilation systems.
·       Why Industrial ventilation used.
·       To maintain an adequate oxygen supply in the work area.
·       To control unhealthy hazardous concentrations of toxic materials in the air.
·       To remove any undesirable doors from a given area.

Application of Industrial Ventilation Systems

·       Optimization of energy costs.
·       Reduction of occupational health disease claims.
·       Control of contaminants to acceptable levels.
·       Control of heat and humidity for comfort.
·       Prevention of fires and explosions.
